So I’m giving up my Americorps Vista dreams. I didn’t get the position I applied for but they did offer me another position. The problem is that I don’t drive (#053 on my list) and the new position is much further out from where I am and would probably require me to have a car since I’m expected to go on some of the site visits with the volunteers. So yeah…I don’t think Im going to do it. I’m going to be 30 almost 31 when this ends and doing Americorps Vista at that point doesn’t seem like a good idea or really jsut possible. Not on $840 a month anyway.
So I replaced my Become an Americorps Vista volunteer with Take more pride in my appearance. My momma always says that I don’t take enough pride in how I look…and since I’m on a Man Hunt…lol…I should care more about what I look like when I step out of the house. Besides when you look better….you feel better. So here are the parameters for Take more pride in my appearance:
1. No leaving the house without make-up, even if it is just powder and lip gloss. No exceptions.
2. Dress jeans only and only with nice collared shirts.
3. No sweats. Okay for in the house and going to the gym but no where else.
4. Keep hands and feet done even if it means I do it myself.
5. Keep a fresh cut. I don’t need a relaxer anymore so there is no reason for my hair to look bad.

Hi, there.
I was searching around and saw taht you were wanting to be a VISTA vokunteer. I am a VISTA Leader in Missouri. I have a position available in St. Louis, MO. Please e-mail me your contact information and resume and I’ll see what I can do for you
Thank you.
Hi! I was doing a random google search and came across this site. I’m so sorry to hear that you gave up on being a VISTA. I just started my service about 2 months ago and it’s turning into one of the best experiences (even if it is just $760/month for me). It’s not an easy thing to do, but it’s rewarding and I feel like I can put all of the idealism I have into practice wtih people who really appreciate you being there to help.
I would suggest looking into more projects. When you post your application on line, just click the box for programs to contact you. I think you’ll be glad you did. Good luck!
