Re-Tooling

I’m going to have to do a major overhaul to my “To Do” list. There have been some major changes in my life and my list needs to reflect that. Will get down to re-tooling soon.

Tasks Failed

039: Complete English Thesis no later than Jan. 31 200
041: Get Straight A’s this semester
075: Complete the Embodiment Challenge

Wow. Before I wrote this I thought I’d failed so many more tasks. So I guess I’m not doing so bad after all. That damn Embodiment Challenge though. I don’t care how many times I re-started I just can’t seem to keep up a diary. Hell June 1st I said I’d complete at least a full 30 days. I didn’t make it to the second…lol. Oh well.

#081: Write 365 Blog Posts in a Year – 02/365

I should make an amendment to this “thing.” I’m nt going to count the posts for this blog simply because this is a blog just to keep track of all the “things” I’m doing. I will count the post on my ohter blogs: Diary of a (Writing) Diva, Brown Sugar, Black Cinema The Blog and Sweet Potato Pie. And I will post the entries here as I write them.

1. Diary of a (Writing) Diva
Have You Ever Been Angry at a Past Self?

Well I am.

Im doing the Embodiment Challenge which is were you keep a paper journal everyday for a year. Well I’m using one of the many old journals I’ve bought, stared and never finished. This particular one is form 2000 when I was dealing with my trifling ex KC. Continue Reading

What’s That I Hear…Sounds Like Folk Eating Crow

#062 – Americorps Vista Volunteer – is No More

blackwomen.jpg

So I’m giving up my Americorps Vista dreams. I didn’t get the position I applied for but they did offer me another position. The problem is that I don’t drive (#053 on my list) and the new position is much further out from where I am and would probably require me to have a car since I’m expected to go on some of the site visits with the volunteers. So yeah…I don’t think Im going to do it. I’m going to be 30 almost 31 when this ends and doing Americorps Vista at that point doesn’t seem like a good idea or really jsut possible. Not on $840 a month anyway.

So I replaced my Become an Americorps Vista volunteer with Take more pride in my appearance. My momma always says that I don’t take enough pride in how I look…and since I’m on a Man Hunt…lol…I should care more about what I look like when I step out of the house. Besides when you look better….you feel better. So here are the parameters for Take more pride in my appearance:

1. No leaving the house without make-up, even if it is just powder and lip gloss. No exceptions.

2. Dress jeans only and only with nice collared shirts.

3. No sweats. Okay for in the house and going to the gym but no where else.

4. Keep hands and feet done even if it means I do it myself.

5. Keep a fresh cut. I don’t need a relaxer anymore so there is no reason for my hair to look bad.

#062 Americorps Vista Volunteer

So, I interviewed for an Americorps Vista position that’s at a local university that’s walking distant from my house. I’d say I have about a 50/50 shot at getting the job. It was a phone interview (which I hate) and while it didn’t go badly, I’m not sure my personality and that of my immediate supervisor would mesh. If I get the gig great. It would obviously set me up to accomplish one of the major goals on my list. They’re under a tight deadline so I find out tomorrow if I get the position or not.

It’s funny because part of me finds myself second guessing myself again: Should I take the job? Wouldn’t it be better to go to school? Get my financial aid? Funny part of it is that every time I do that I don’t get anywhere really and end up just as broke and driftless as I was before. If I get the gig…I’ma take it and then figure out the school and financial from there.
